Won, for a SECOND year in a ROW!! A ‘California Home & Design Award’ for the landscape design of the Spark-Graham residence in Los Osos.
We get a little excited over any excuse to spend some time in the city. Jeffrey booked us rooms at the Kabuki Hotel in Japan town, and had us all upgraded to the corner suites. Beautiful rooms, with deep ofuro tubs (which I didn’t get a chance to use), and views that spanned the city.
Wednesday night was the Awards Show held at the Design Center Galleria. The room was filled with a variety of talented architects and designers; too many to meet in one night. We met up with Mark English, an Architect, whom we jokingly have a competition with for the number one space on theHouzz website. Both Jeffrey and Mark were laughing so hard that neither could keep their eyes open for a photo.
We shamelessly promoted ourselves, or at least Tom felt it necessary to leave our business cards next to our award photo.
Receiving our award from Sara Lynch
Here it is- The 2010 CH&D Award
Sandra brought out the wild side of Tom. Cougarlicious….grrrr…..(the drinks helped)
The lovely Sandra Espinet, voted as Designer of the Year, seemed to be a bit enamored by our work…
Wish we would have taken more photos throughout our trip.
After the awards we headed around the block to a club calledProject One for a little bit of an after party (A recommendation from the guys at Siol Studios). More drinks, music, and dancing. Then finished off the evening at the Elbo Room. Well…..we actually finished off the evening at a 24 hr Pizza by the Slice, but that takes a bit of the glamour out of the evening.
Thursday, we hit The Grove Cafe in the Fillmore, only a few blocks away from the hotel. This seems to be our fallback when we want a good cup of coffee and a hearty breakfast. Both were needed that morning! It just makes you happy when you look down at your latte and you see a heart, fern leaf or sunshine.
Later that afternoon we hit the Design Center and made sure to check out all the latest and greatest in outdoor furnishings. The goal for this year is to buy some of these gorgeous pieces for our office lounge.
Stopped in DogPatch for lunch at Pucinni’s. I wish we had food this delicious and simple on the central coast. You can’t beat the Blue Bottle Coffee and the market fresh ingredients.
Jeffrey finished off the evening at the Janus et Cie showroom party. He informed me that he strategically placed himself in a comfortable chair next to the kitchen to ensure he tried all the beautifully made appetizers. I was a bit jealous that I had to head home early.
Looking forward to our next excuse to hit the city!
